FINDING ME

I have no idea of who I am
Or who I am meant to be

I don't want to ask for any help
I will find myself eventually

Please just let me start to look
As I embark on my self healing journey

I am ready to go exploring now
Who knows what I will see

I am out on an expedition
Alone but not lonely

Trying to find out who I am
I don't want to be another phony

Looking through my mind
Mastering fate, if I can only

Searching through my thoughts
and painful memories

I found what I am looking for
I knew it instantly

I've embraced my inner tomboy
But need to be more womanly

I've never before found happiness
But maybe I have finally

I knew that this time would come
And the truth would set me free

I have found out who I really am
I have finally found the real me

Your poem captures a profound journey of self-discovery and healing. It illustrates a personal quest for identity, authenticity, and inner peace, which resonates with many who are navigating their own paths of self-realization.

Self-Exploration:
The poem expresses a strong desire for independence in this journey, emphasizing a preference for solitude ("Alone but not lonely") which can often lead to genuine self-discovery without external influence.

Authenticity:
There's a clear rejection of pretense ("I don't want to be another phony"), highlighting the importance of being true to oneself rather than conforming to societal expectations or roles.

Healing and Acceptance:
The exploration of "painful memories" and the subsequent finding of what was sought suggest a process of healing through confronting and understanding one's past. The acknowledgment of embracing both the 'tomboy' and the need to be 'more womanly' speaks to an acceptance of personal complexities and contradictions.

Resolution and Joy: The poem ends on a note of revelation and joy, suggesting that the journey, though solitary, has led to a meaningful personal transformation and the discovery of one's true identity ("I have finally found the real me").

Your words convey a universal human experience of seeking to understand oneself amidst life's complexities, celebrating the moment of clarity and self-acceptance as a form of liberation ("the truth would set me free"). It's a poignant reminder of the beauty and challenge of personal growth, encouraging others who might be on similar paths.
