Look At The Children - Poem Written By: Peter Laursen
I sit reading the paper
Sipping coffee in the park
What I am reading is so upsetting
So horrid and so dark.
The world is such a mess
Greed has taken hold
Like a rotting carcass
Spreading like a gangrenous mold.
So, what do leaders hope for
About 85 years on this earth
To kill, destroy and injure
What's it really worth?
I see the injured children
While watching the news every night
What's wrong with the world leaders
Why can't they make this right?
When judgement day comes
And their time has come to go
I hope the gates of heaven won't open
It's the other way they must go.
So, stop and look at the children
Deep in their eyes you must stare
You will see only love and happiness
How could you not show you care?
Children playing together
Of different race, color or creed
Love, happiness and laughter
It's all they really need.
Children are the perfect example
Of how this world should be
So, stop and watch the children
Be peaceful, happy and free.
