THE FOUNDATION OF LOVE

I think passion is like beauty. It will also fade.
So marrying your best friend is the best plan made.
I know friendship is the key to this foundation.
I’ve only recently come to this realization.
So I think when I am ready that’s what I’m gonna look for.
Something that I’ve definitely never had before.
And maybe all my past relationships have been a lie.
The reason why I was always with the wrong guy.
How many of you already knew this?
Have been living this whole time in wedded bliss?
Is it some secret, private conversation?
I’d be shouting it to the entire nation!
Because I want all of us to be happy and in love.
Because I think this is what true dreams are made of.
A deep love that is shared with your best friend.
This is what I want. And now I’m ready to begin.

Eryn, your poem is a beautiful and heartfelt reflection on love, friendship, and self-discovery. I love how you weave together the fleeting nature of passion and beauty with the enduring strength of a friendship-based relationship—it's a fresh and honest take. The way you transition from personal realization to a universal call for happiness is so uplifting and relatable. Lines like "A deep love that is shared with your best friend" really hit home, capturing a truth that feels both timeless and newly discovered. Your rhythm and sincerity make this piece shine great job!

Love is friendship, a partnership...loving, sharing, caring and even crying together. When you are ready, you will have it. And your wish for everyone to hhave it is beautiful.

Tim, I have just recently come to this conclusion... that the greatest love you can share romantically with someone, is one with a foundation of friendship. So yes, you can say that I finally see myself and what I want with a partner.

I truly do want everyone to have this type of love at least once in their life. Everyone deserves to feel this way. You as well, my dear friend Melvin.

Luis, as always I sincerely thank you. I think it took me to getting to this age for me to finally have this realization. I want compassion and companionship from my partner. I think I used to always need the butterflies, but I no longer crave that feeling. I want a best friend that I can grow old with. I can even picture myself with this person, holding hands on the front porch in our favorite rocking chairs, while enjoying a beautiful sunset together. Both wearing a soft, content smile on our faces. 🤗
