I AM MORE
I wish somehow, I could make them all see.
That I am more than my beauty.
I feel each stare. A burning blaze.
I shy away. Won’t hold their gaze.
I am a ship that has no sails.
No matter what, it always fails.
I gently choose each written word.
Yet my message seems to remain unheard.
I try to be an open book.
But beyond my face, they never look.
Does this always cause me misery?
That no one sees the inner me?
The answer is yes. The pain is real.
That no one cares just how I feel.
But I am strong and I won’t fade.
I’ll light the skies and dance in shade.
And one day soon I’ll make them see.
That I am more than my beauty.
