The Words We Didn’t Say


It’s the words we didn’t say.
That killed us in the end.
For when you walked away.
I lost my best friend.

Our relationship lost meaning.
The little things we used to do.
The good times and the bad times.
Everything that we went through.

No longer seemed to matter.
When you walked out that door.
It’s like we just gave up.
It wasn’t worth fighting for.

And I’m supposed to be able.
To start over one more time.
Yet I’m not even able to write.
My words no longer rhyme.

Yes, it’s what we didn’t say.
That I feel with such regret.
That brought us to our end.
A love I can’t. I won’t forget.
