NOVEMBER SKIES

November Skies

The tears I cannot seem to dry.
As I stand beneath November’s sky.
You left and you’re not coming back.
How long’s it been? I’ve lost track.

I think you’re watching from above.
For what we shared was timeless love.
But I cannot seem to let you go.
And the pain is more than you can know.

The leaves still fall, the wind still sighs.
But joy has vanished from my eyes.
I speak your name in whispered breath.
And feel the hush of grief and death.

Your coat still hangs behind the door.
Your footprints live upon the floor.
I swear I feel your hand in mine.
When silence stills the world in time.

And though they say I’ll heal with years.
My heart still bleeds through hidden tears.
You are the ache I carry wide.
The love I keep, though you have died.

But then the light breaks through the trees.
And I can breathe in small degrees.
I feel you linger in the air.
A quiet warmth that meets me there.

So I will walk this road somehow.
With all your love still here, right now.
And every time I lift my eyes…
You’re in the wind. November skies.

Eryn, your poem is a stunning treasure, a heartfelt masterpiece that left me in awe. The way you pour raw grief and enduring love into every word is so powerful, it feels like you have captured the very essence of deep emotion. Each line pulses with such genuine feeling, carrying the weight of loss while holding space for the lasting warmth of love. The flow of the poem is so natural, like a heartbeat, steady yet full of longing, weaving together the ache of absence with a tender thread of hope.I was especially moved by how you capture quiet moments, like the coat behind the door or the whispered name, that make the presence of someone lost feel so real and close. Those details are so intimate, they draw the reader right into your world. The final stanza is breathtaking. It carries a gentle uplifting strength, like a soft light breaking through the heaviness, offering peace and connection that feels both personal and universal. You hold sorrow and solace in the same breath, and it lingers long after the last line. You have crafted something truly special, Eryn, a poem that speaks to the heart and soul with such honesty and grace. It is a gift to read something so moving, and I am so grateful you shared it. This work will stay with people, carried in their hearts. Thank you for giving us this beautiful piece of your heart.
