INTO THE THAW

Into The Thaw

You come off cold. Your heart encased,
In layers thick with frost.
But if you let me help you thaw,
You’ll find what once was lost.

If you choose to stay this way,
The ice will surely spread.
Yet if you let me through your walls,
I’ll melt each frozen thread.

I understand why you retreat,
Why icy silence hides your pain.
But walls that keep out hurt and loss
Bind love in heavy chain.

I vow to stay, through sun or storm,
No matter what may be.
For I was once an ice queen too…
Entrapped in misery.

If you don’t allow the ice to melt,
You’ll lose your tender soul.
You’ll never feel the warmth again,
You’ll break and won’t be whole.

But I can see beneath it all,
The brilliant way you used to glow.
Together we’ll reclaim your fire,
And let your true and pure heart flow.

So take my hand. Release the past,
Let winter’s coldness flee.
Your spring awaits, just trust my warmth…
And fall into the thaw with me.
