THE START OF YOU AND ME

The Start Of You And Me

Your scent’s intoxicating.
Your eyes, they mesmerize.
You walk into a room,
And turn the heads of all the guys.

Yet I keep on disbelieving.
And I don’t like feeling daunted.
Does this woman really like me?
She could have anyone she wanted?

I see the way they notice you.
The whispers as you pass.
The way your body moves,
With tender grace and gentle class.

Now you’re walking over,
You lay your hand upon my sleeve.
The way you’re looking at me,
Makes it hard for me to breathe.

You wrap your arms around my body,
Like it’s the only place to be.
And suddenly I’m realizing,
You don’t want anyone… but me.

We slip outside together,
Your fingers finding mine.
The night feels soft and endless,
Like it’s bending space and time.

Your thumb traces soft circles,
On the back of my bare hand.
Every touch is slow and certain,
Like you know… and understand.

You lean in close and whisper,
My name upon your breath.
That simple sound between us,
Feels like life defeating death.

Our foreheads press together,
We don’t rush. We don’t pretend.
In the quiet of that closeness,
Something fragile starts to mend.

We walk away together,
With a promise not yet said.
But I see it in your tender eyes,
And in the way you tilt your head.

The streetlights cast a softer glow,
As if for us, they’ve dimmed their light.
The world feels distant, muted now,
But our future’s shining bright.

This night won’t fade by morning,
It’s not just heat or chance.
It’s the start of something lasting,
And it began with our first glance.

We pause before the door at last,
The night still wrapped in calm.
Your forehead resting close to mine,
Your presence like a balm.

No need for haste or hungry moves,
This closeness says it all.
Desire humming underneath,
A steady, patient call.

Your smile feels like a quiet vow,
Spoken without a sound.
The kind that says I’m choosing you,
While the whole world fades around.

You press a kiss upon my cheek,
So gentle, slow, and true.
And in that simple moment,
I feel completely known by you.

Your hand rests warm against my back,
As night turns into dawn.
And every doubt I’ve ever had,
Is suddenly all gone.

We linger longer than we should,
Neither one in haste.
Savoring the sweetness,
Of a moment meant to taste.

No fireworks or grand display,
Just two hearts that align.
A love that grows in quiet ways,
Unrushed… and wholly mine.

And as the night folds into us,
With stars still shining free.
I know this isn’t just desire…
It’s the start of you and me.

Eryn, this poem beautifully captures the shift from self-doubt to quiet certainty in new love. Gentle pacing, intimate details, and sincere emotion create an authentic romance without excessive drama. Lovely, evocative, and deeply felt.
