One listens as the sea listens to the
moon,
pulling at the tides of meaning,
aching for a whisper yet to come.
There is so much I wish to tell,
so much caught in the net of ribs,
fluttering like silver fish,
too quick, too bright, too fleeting
to hold in our hands.
Instead, I pray like a tree prays to the
wind,
bending beneath the weight of
longing,
roots trembling in the hush of what
cannot be said.
I fall apart at the seams,
a fabric too worn to wonder,
a threadbare thing unraveling in the
glow.
No words can be given,
no language can contain,
you, the celestial body untethered,
you, the wave that never breaks,
you, the impossible hush before the
beginning.
You are something marvelous,
miraculous,
rare.
and I, a quiet witness,
thank you for every word you gift.
