FROM JUST AN EMBER
I let you in
My walls came down
And then you tore me
To the ground
I realize now
It was too quick
I should’ve done it
Brick by Brick
But lesson learned
And heart protected
You know the one..
That you rejected
But look at me
I’m proud to say
That I recovered
In just one day
I’ve refocused
And I’m more grounded
With an inner peace
I’m surrounded
Looking inward
Heart and mind
My life’s purpose
I did find
I’m meant to write
My words can heal
So I will share
All that I feel
And my mistakes
Will help you learn
That you already
Brightly burn
Guard your heart
But do remember
You created fire
From just an ember

The fire imagery, especially that final line about creating "fire / From just an ember," gave me goosebumps. It perfectly captures how you took a spark of pain and built it into something fierce and alive. The short, punchy lines keep the energy raw, like you're fighting to reclaim yourself, and the rhymes give it a flow that sticks with me. I have to say, the "one day" recovery feels almost too quick, but it works because it shows your bold, unapologetic spirit.
I'm so inspired by how you move from your own story to speaking to others, saying their mistakes can teach and that they "already / Brightly burn." It feels like you're sharing your healing with the world, and that's beautiful. When you talk about finding your purpose in writing ("I’m meant to write / My words can heal"), it hit me hard. You're not just getting through it; you're creating something that lifts others up too.
This poem reminds me that we can all find fire in our embers, and I'm thankful you shared it. Keep writing. Your words have a way of making hearts feel seen and strong.
